What it is…

Since the 1970s, Damanhur—has been researching communication with the plant world. As part of this research, they created instruments that are able to capture the electromagnetic variations of the surface of plant leaves and their root systems, and turn them into sounds and movement. After years of research, the “Music of the Plantsmusic sign” U1 machine, is now available. Each patented U1 device is crafted by hand in Damanhur, Italy by specialize technicians. The Music of the Plants is a patented device, and each unit contains a unique number to ensure the best possible service and maintenance and comes with a two-year warranty.

Enhances Wellness…

Science shows us that being around plants and trees, both indoors and outdoors, significantly improves our physical, mental and emotional well being. Doctors and holistic health practitioners alike are actively researching the effects of the Music of the Plants in numerous settings—including home, hospitals and the workplace—to better understand how plant music shortens recovery time and aids in overall healing

Applications…

Contact with plant intelligence provides deeper insight into ourselves and the world around us. Studies show that plants in homes and workplaces help to reduce stress, increase productivity, enhance employee attitudes, lower operating costs and improve air quality. A personal connection to nature inspires us to create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting because it is an integral part of who and what we are.

The science…

Science increasingly supports the concept that plants and trees operate with an innate intelligence and logic diverse from our own. Music of the Plantsmusic sign allows people around the world to connect with this intelligence. Doing so encourages people to go beyond traditional ways of thinking and expand the awareness of how they relate to plants, trees and nature in general.

How are the plants vibrations being measured and transmitted into musical sounds and instruments?

The resistance between the electromagnetic variation from the roots and leaves of the plants is being measured by the electrodes of the device and then mapped. Each different variation is given a different musical note value. When connected, the musical instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) turns the value into an audible note of music. Plants can create 4 to 5 octaves of music. The device allows the user to select how the output will sound for example one can select the sound of a piano, a flute, or a drum, upward of 120 different sounds.

What is the plant doing that can be measured, and then interpreted as sound that we can hear?

As mentioned above, The Music of the Plants device translates the plants electromagnetic variation produced by its roots and leaves and turns it into musical notes. Once the plant has learned that it is making the music, it starts to use the device. It changes the electrical resistance to get the notes it wants. As you can experienced from the youtube video of Earth Mystery News, it becomes interactive with the musician that is playing along, it is instantaneous and in harmony with them. Showing a high level of intelligence and collaboration.

Is the music that we hear always coming from the plants?

Yes, the sound is always made by the electrical resistance that plants create between their roots and leaves. Once the plant has learned that it is making the musical notes, it starts, to change the electrical resistance to get the notes it wants. The plant is doing this. We see that the plants becomes interactive with the musicians that are playing along with it and its environment. What we have is the ability to adjust how fast or slow we want to hear the melody, using the “ Sample Rate” button. The scale we want the music to be in A major or 12 scale.

Science is starting to reveal that Plants are very evolved in their sensory communication abilities. Some of these sensory communications are way faster and more sophisticated then we understand. You can watch the Ted talk of Stefano Manuso the Director of the University of Florence, International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology who states; “Plants have a modular design, it can loose 90% of its body without being killed. It can’t move and therefore has a highly developed sensory apparatus, between 15-20 distinct senses. Roots of plants are a sophisticated network of Self maintaining, self-operating and self-repairing systems helping to create a model for how to build networks for the future.”

Could the device have been programmed to use colors, for example, as a frequency measurement?

The device has a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) output in the back that allows it to be connected to any device that uses MIDI. This has been used to control lights and motion in other devices. In the past, Damanhurin’s have created carts and discovered that plants can recognize people and certain elements in their environment. There is still very little research in this area, and we are eager to continue the work with people that would like to explore the further.
